COVID-19: COATICOOK’S MEDICAL CLINIC SUSPENDS NON-URGENT MEETINGS OF PATIENTS RETURNING ABROAD AND STRENGTHENS PREVENTIVE MEASURES

Coaticook, March 13, 2020 – The Coaticook Medical Clinic made the decision this morning to suspend non-emergency appointments (for example: annual follow-up, diabetes follow-up) only for people returning from abroad within 14 last days or possibly being in contact with someone with COVID-19. Also, patients returning from abroad with the following symptoms should not present themselves to the Clinic, but should call the info-COVID line of the MSSS (1 877 644 4545): fever, difficulty breathing, throat or flu-like symptoms.

In addition, we would like to remind the public of the importance of applying the preventive measures dictated yesterday by the Prime Minister: Prime Minister François Legault asks all those who return from abroad to place themselves in solitary confinement for a period 14 days.

In addition to these measures, the Clinic has put in place additional precautionary measures for medical visits. Therefore, during a visit, we ask you:

• Use the alcohol-based disinfectant to wash your hands before entering the clinic
• Wear a mask if you have a fever, cough, sore throat or pain / breathing difficulties
• Respect an arm distance between each patient in the queue.
• And to register at the reception one person at a time.

Also note that the Clinic’s disinfection protocol (already adequate) has also been strengthened.

In closing, we remind you that the Coaticook Medical Clinic is the only family medicine clinic in the Coaticook local service network (RLS). We therefore ask for the cooperation of the population in order to ensure that our personnel is not exposed.
